Voluntary Sector

Voluntary groups are now more important than ever.

During this difficult time we have seen the voluntary sector really step up in Northampton. Even with limited resources they are all working together to support the vulnerable.

Its wonderful to see volunteers from all community backgrounds have come forward to offer their services.

Food banks are delivering food parcels, volunteers are delivering prescriptions and shopping to the vulnerable and the isolated. Too many to name but many statutory services are making care calls to the vulnerable.

Cllr Rufia Ashraf says,

Having worked in the voluntary sector for over 10 years I have always believed voluntary organisations play an important role in the town.

We need voluntary groups because without them many vulnerable peopl

e today would not have received vital support. I am also doing what I can to help the vulnerable in the community whilst protecting my family.

If we have learned anything from this is, during difficult times voluntary, statutory and the private sector work well together.
